Flood Information

The Spring Nor-Easter of April 15 through 19, 2007 did cause significant damage in Tamworth. Many roads were damaged and some areas of Town did become inaccessable to emergency equipment for about one day. The Town opened it's Emergency Operations Center and used the Emergency Operations Plan. Your Highway crew and Fire Department worked tirelessly to minimize the damage and keep as many roads passable as possible. By the end of the day on Tuesday, April 17th the Highway crew had every Town road open again and had all major repairs done by the end of the week.
The Town has applied for disaster relief through the State and is awaiting the President's decision.
All told Tamworth got off easy compared to other parts of the State. That can be attributed to good planning, and preparedness. Our Road Agent, Bruce Robinson, works every year to improve drainage in areas prone to washout and keeps gravel on hand to make immediate repairs as needed. Without that foresight, there would be greater damage and longer times needed to repair it. Thanks Bruce.
Attached is a copy of the Governor's letter to the President requesting the disaster declaration.
